Bromelain is an enzyme. it is present in all parts of the pineapple plant but pineapple stem is the most common source of bromelain. bromelain has medicinal properties. bromelain may be used alone or in conjunction with other medications. it is used externally to remove dead skin from burns and orally to reduce inflammation and swelling especially of the nose and sinuses. it is also used for fever, preventing the collection of water in the lung, relaxing muscles, stimulating muscle contractions, improving the absorption of antibiotics, preventing cancer, and helps in weight loss.
